Private Jet Connections at Brussels Airport — Abelag, Luxaviation & FBO Transfers

A guide to the private aviation infrastructure at Brussels Airport and how FFGR Belgium coordinates seamless ground transfers from FBO arrival to final destination.

Brussels Airport (BRU/EBBR) hosts two primary FBO (Fixed Base Operator) facilities for private aviation: Abelag Aviation and Luxaviation. Both are located on the general aviation apron, separate from the commercial terminal complex. Understanding how these facilities operate is essential for FFGR Belgium clients arriving or departing on private jets.

Abelag Aviation (now part of the Jet Aviation group): located on the north side of the airport (Luchthavenlei, Zaventem). Abelag is the primary FBO for VVIP and government aviation in Brussels, handling the majority of head-of-state visits and royal movements. The facility includes a dedicated VVIP lounge, private customs/immigration processing, and a secure vehicle arrival area directly adjacent to the apron. FFGR Belgium vehicles are authorised to enter the secure vehicle bay, allowing the chauffeur to meet the client at the aircraft stairs.

Luxaviation: a Luxembourg-headquartered operator with a significant Brussels Airport presence, handling charter and managed aircraft. Luxaviation's Brussels FBO facility is on the south side of the airport, with a separate vehicle arrival sequence from Abelag.

Ground transfer coordination: FFGR Belgium's operations desk receives the inbound flight's CTOT (Calculated Take-Off Time from origin) and ETA, and positions the vehicle in the FBO vehicle bay 20 minutes before block arrival. For clients with no immigration formality (EU private aviation, Schengen), the block-to-vehicle time is typically 8-12 minutes. For non-EU arrivals requiring customs processing, FFGR Belgium waits in the vehicle bay without time pressure.

Outbound protocol: FFGR Belgium delivers the client to the FBO vehicle bay, assists with baggage transfer to the FBO ground crew, and remains until the client is in the departure lounge. For clients with a departure delay, FFGR Belgium offers a city holding option (returning to a hotel or office) rather than an airport wait.

Charleroi Airport (CRL): Brussels-South Charleroi Airport hosts significant charter traffic for leisure destinations. FFGR Belgium serves CRL with standard fleet. Journey Brussels centre → CRL: 55km, 45 minutes.
