Ghent (09:15-12:30): the Graslei (guild-house waterfront, the most photogenic medieval urban waterfront in Belgium), the Gravensteen (the 12th-century castle of the Counts of Flanders, unusual for its state of preservation), the Cathedral of Saint Bavo (Ghent Altarpiece, Van Eyck's 1432 masterpiece), and the SMAK contemporary art museum for clients with collection interests. Ghent to Bruges: 46 kilometres, 35 minutes on the E40.
