Private Jet Ground Coordination at Brussels Airport: The FFGR Belgium Protocol

Brussels Airport handles over 900 business aviation movements per year from its private terminal. FFGR Belgium's ground coordination — tarmac escort, airside access, CPO integration — makes BRU private aviation completely seamless.

Brussels Airport's business aviation infrastructure is centred on the Abelag Aviation FBO, located on the south side of the airfield at the Brucargo area. Abelag handles approximately 900+ business aviation movements per year from Brussels BRU, making it one of the more active FBOs in the Benelux region. The facility offers the full range of FBO services — customs clearance, catering, crew facilities, aircraft handling, and the passenger reception suite that allows principals to move between the aircraft steps and a ground vehicle in under four minutes.

FFGR Belgium holds the necessary airside access credentials at Brussels Airport, which allows our drivers to position vehicles on the apron or in the Abelag reception area depending on the arrival's operational classification. For standard private jet arrivals, the sequence runs as follows: FFGR Belgium's operations desk receives the flight plan via ACARS integration, monitoring the inbound aircraft's position from the European FIR entry point onwards; the driver positions at Abelag reception 15 minutes before estimated block-in; on engine shutdown, the driver receives the signal to approach the aircraft steps; the client's luggage is loaded while the aircraft stairs are retracted.

For principals requiring executive protection, the protocol adds additional dimensions: a CPO (Close Protection Officer) travels with the vehicle to the Abelag reception area and is positioned at the aircraft steps for the client's descent. FFGR Belgium's CPO teams are familiar with the Abelag facility's layout, the aviation authority security perimeter procedures, and the vehicle movements within the restricted area. Advance coordination with the handling agent (Abelag) is completed the evening before, confirming the aircraft's bay allocation and the approved vehicle approach route.

The reverse procedure — departure — follows the same logic: FFGR Belgium positions the vehicle at the Abelag departure entrance at the confirmed departure time, and the client moves from vehicle to aircraft steps in a single uninterrupted sequence. Customs declaration (for non-EU departures) and passport control at the BRU private terminal can be completed in the vehicle or in the Abelag lounge depending on the client's preference and the nature of the journey.
