The four addresses a summit revolves around
Europa Building
Summits are held here, in the lantern-shaped structure attached to the former Résidence Palace. Delegation vehicles are directed to defined set-down points that change according to the level of the meeting, and the surrounding block operates under restricted circulation for the duration.
Justus Lipsius
The Council building faces Europa across Rue de la Loi and takes most of the working-level traffic: ministerial councils, working parties, permanent representations. Its rhythm is weekly rather than exceptional, and it is the address most delegations actually spend their day at.
Berlaymont
The Commission headquarters sits at Schuman, minutes on foot from the Council but a different problem by car. Approaches from Avenue d'Auderghem and Rue Belliard behave differently under restriction, and the choice between them is made on the morning, not the week before.
Permanent Representations
The twenty-seven permanent representations are scattered around the quarter rather than gathered in one place. During summit weeks the useful skill is not knowing where they are, it is knowing which streets between them are still open at that hour.
What a summit week really imposes
The quarter closes before the summit starts
Circulation measures around Rue de la Loi and Schuman are put in place ahead of the meeting, not at the moment it opens. A pick-up planned on the map the week before can sit inside a closed perimeter on the day. We re-plan the approach as the measures are published, and again on the morning if they change.
Vehicles are held, not parked
Summit days run long and unpredictably. A delegation that finishes at 02:00 does not want to call for a car. Our vehicles wait, with the chauffeur reachable and the cabin ready, for as long as the meeting runs.
Book the week, not the journey
During European Council weeks the constraint in Brussels is availability across the whole city, because every delegation, every mission and every press team is competing for the same fleet. Book the period, then refine the movements inside it.
Twelve languages, one coordinator
A delegation rarely arrives speaking one language. Our coordination runs in twelve, and the chauffeur assigned to a movement is briefed in the language the principal actually uses rather than in English by default.
Questions we are asked
How far in advance should I book for a European Council week?
As early as the dates are known. During European Council or Alliance summit weeks the limiting factor in Brussels is city-wide vehicle availability, not our own schedule: every delegation, mission and press team is drawing on the same pool. Reserve the period first, then refine the individual movements as the programme firms up.
Can a vehicle wait for the whole day and evening?
Yes. Summit days end when they end. Held vehicles are the normal arrangement for this kind of assignment: the chauffeur stays with the car, remains reachable, and the cabin stays ready. You are not calling for a vehicle at two in the morning.
What happens when Rue de la Loi is closed?
Closures around the Council and Schuman are anticipated where they are published and re-planned in real time where they are not. Our operations desk holds alternative approaches for each building and briefs the chauffeur before departure, so a closure changes the route rather than the arrival time.
Do you handle several vehicles moving as one delegation?
Yes. Matched vehicles, a lead chauffeur holding the running order, a single point of contact for the delegation and a fallback for any vehicle held at a checkpoint. The convoy arrives as a unit, which is the point of a convoy.
Is close protection available during summit weeks?
Executive protection is arranged through licensed operators in our Belgian network, under the Belgian private security framework. Scope and staffing are agreed with you in writing before the assignment. Our published material never shows the faces of protection agents.
Give us the dates before the programme is final
We hold the period, then build the movements around it as the agenda settles. Every assignment is quoted individually.
