Brussels & Trappist Beer Tour by Private Chauffeur — Chimay, Orval & Rochefort

Belgium produces the world's most complex beers. FFGR Belgium's one-day Trappist circuit from Brussels — three UNESCO-listed abbey breweries, one private chauffeur.

Belgium's Trappist beer tradition — recognised by UNESCO — is concentrated in the monasteries of the Ardennes and the Flemish countryside. Of the world's 12 recognised Trappist breweries, 6 are in Belgium. FFGR Belgium's one-day circuit reaches three of the most significant within a single day from Brussels.

Chimay (Abbaye Notre-Dame de Scourmont): 135 kilometres south of Brussels on the N5, in the Hainaut province. The Chimay Trappist brewery produces 60,000 hectolitres per year — the largest Trappist brewery in Belgium. The abbey's visitor centre (In Namu Patris) opened in 2019 and offers guided tours, a tasting room, and a restaurant serving Chimay cheeses and beers. FFGR Belgium positions the vehicle at the abbey entrance while clients tour for 90 minutes.

Orval (Abbaye Notre-Dame d'Orval): in the Belgian province of Luxembourg, 180 kilometres from Brussels. Orval produces only one beer — widely regarded among the world's finest ales. The abbey, partially ruined by fire in the 18th century and partially rebuilt in the 1920s by Henri Alavoine, is architecturally striking. Visitor access is to the ruins and visitor centre; the brewery itself is restricted.

Rochefort (Abbaye Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy): near the Meuse valley town of Rochefort, 145 kilometres from Brussels. Rochefort 10 (11.3% ABV) is consistently listed among the world's 10 greatest beers. The abbey does not offer public tours — the experience is tasting at the village café system adjacent to the abbey wall.

One-day circuit: Brussels 08:30 → Chimay (arrive 10:30, 2 hours) → Orval (arrive 13:00, 1.5 hours with picnic lunch) → Rochefort (arrive 15:30, 1 hour) → Brussels (arrive 18:30). Total distance: approximately 460km round trip.
